Men must reap what they've sown

Now is the time to be humble. Admittedly, some of my feelings toward this matter stem from guilt, or self-hate- a wretched admission but nonetheless necessary in order for me to be objective.

The world is too small for a battle of the sexes. There is no longer land to be conquered, beasts to kill or mountains to climb. We must now look inward. The world is now smaller and our occupation of it is that much more overwhelming. It’s about time we alter our perception of progress. It can no longer be measured by land mass or wealth but by inclusion and equality.

Taking Responsibility 101. Parents use this method to teach a child.

  1. Stop and think. Deep breath… 1 … 2 … 3 … 4 … 5 … 6 … 7.

    Now that you’re calm, continue.

2. Decide if you’re wrong. If you respond with a quick “no” then you are missing the point, which     is okay, but know that being wrong is not the same as being defeated.

3. Say, “Yes, I did it. I’m sorry.”

Am I advocating for reparations? No. I am only trying to break down a barrier within the male psyche, the one that confuses tenacity with stubbornness, and bullheadedness.

4. Follow the direction.

Now, this is where things get tricky. Where do we go from here? If it’s a child who spilled some fucking apple juice, well, they can clean it up. If they hit someone with a  pine cone, yes the direction and action is to apologize and the lesson is to acknowledge the pain and suffering they causes to their fellow human being… oh wait.

The point is, Men have been in positions of power throughout the history of the world, therefore, they are the only ones to blame for their current “plight” without using blame-shifting, hate misdirection and the tried and true, whine-and-stomp-feet technique.
